1954 GMC 100-24 1\/2 Ton Deluxe Cab<\/strong> – The 1954 GMC Series 100-24 1\/2 Ton was part of the GMC “New Design” truck line and featured a major restyle, including a new triple-bar grille that was shared with the Chevrolet 3100, making it a rare and valuable truck today. These trucks were powered by the 248 cubic-inch inline-six engine and offered options like the four-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission. The 1954 GMC had a unique, industrial-looking dashboard, unlike the Chevrolet’s dashboard, which was another differentiating factor. Though their coachwork and chassis were identical to the Chevrolet, GMC trucks had better engines with features like pressurized lubrication and full-pressure lubrication.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Whenever we are traveling across the southern US, we are always on the hunt for clean GM trucks. While TX has some of the best examples, we’ve picked up several in AZ and CA that meet our criteria. This rare ’54 GMC was recently located in a CA orchard and given a very modest refresh. The seats, carpet, and headlined had just been completed before we acquired the truck. Upon its arrival to TX we installed a new dome light, weatherstripping, carburetor, and radiator. The body is very original and has it’s fair share of dings and scratches. It features the original wood bed but we threw a sheet of plywood in the bed for photos. The GMC rides on a set of original 15″ wheels with white dog-dish hubcaps and thick 205\/65\/R15 Tires. We love the way it drives and think the originality makes it truly unique.
