GM&#8217;s smallest full-size SUV, it is part of the\u00a0<a title=\"Chevrolet C\/K\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chevrolet_C\/K\">Chevrolet C\/K<\/a>\u00a0truck family. Introduced to the\u00a0<a title=\"Jeep Cherokee (SJ)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chevrolet\">Chevrolet<\/a>\u00a0line for the 1969\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Model_year\">model year<\/a>, the K5 Blazer was replaced for 1995 by the\u00a0<a title=\"Chevrolet Tahoe\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chevrolet_Tahoe\">Chevrolet Tahoe<\/a>. In 1970,\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"GMC Truck\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GMC_Truck\">GMC<\/a>\u00a0introduced its own model of the truck, called the\u00a0Jimmy, which was discontinued in 1991 and replaced by the\u00a0<a title=\"Chevrolet Tahoe\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chevrolet_Tahoe\">Yukon<\/a>. The &#8220;Jimmy&#8221; name was chosen to reflect how\u00a0GM\u00a0may sound in a similar manner to how\u00a0<i><a title=\"Jeep\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeep\">Jeep<\/a><\/i> was thought to be a pronunciation of GP in the competing market. Both were short-<a title=\"Wheelbase\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wheelbase\">wheelbase<\/a>\u00a0trucks and available with either rear- or\u00a0<a title=\"Four-wheel drive\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Four-wheel_drive\">four-wheel drive<\/a>.\u00a0The K5 Blazer and Jimmy had &#8220;full convertible&#8221; removable tops until 1975. For 1976, GM introduced a half-cab design that was less prone to leaks and slightly safer in a roll-over.
