The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Jaguar XJ-S\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jaguar_XJ-S\">XJS<\/a>\u00a0designed by then Jaguar design director\u00a0<a title=\"Geoff Lawson (designer)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geoff_Lawson_(designer)\">Geoff Lawson<\/a>. It was available in two body styles &#8211; a three-door hatchback coup\u00e9 and two-door convertible with both variations featuring 2+2 seating.
