Founded by Harry Ford Sinclair in 1916, Sinclair Oil & Refining Company couldn’t have begun at a better time in history. With a borrowed $20 million dollars Sinclair began what midwestern salesman called a\u00a0“country boy operation.” Harry Sinclair started with no organization, no technological skills and little administrative education yet\u00a0increased its assets by 40 percent to $70 million in its first 14 months. This was just the beginning. Sinclair Oil had a major impact in the industry which include being the first high-octane gasoline, the first racing promotions and the first modern service station.<\/p>\n
