2002 Lexus SC430 – The 2002 Lexus SC430 is part of the second-generation Lexus SC (Z40) lineup, produced from 2001 to 2005 as a retractable hardtop convertible coupe. It was introduced in 2001 to replace the first-generation SC (Z30) and was designed to compete in the premium grand tourer segment with a unique coupe-cabriolet body style. Unlike its predecessor, the SC430 was conceived in Europe and featured a long hood, swept headlights, and a distinctive six-slat grille. It was marketed as a 2+2 for comfort, with the rear seats used primarily for passengers rather than full seating. The design was inspired by yachts, aiming for a sporty yet elegant look. The SC430 was unique in its class — no direct competitor from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or Cadillac offered a coupe-cabriolet at the time. It appealed to younger, affluent buyers seeking a luxury convertible with coupe-like styling. Production ended in 2010, and the SC was succeeded by the Lexus LC in 2017.
