1996 Chevy Impala SS – When the Impala name returned, it once again did so as a concept car. Unveiled at the 1992 Detroit Auto Show, the Impala SS was a murdered-out Caprice with a lowered suspension and an 8.2-liter V-8. The Impala SS went into production for the 1994 model year, effectively a civilian version of the 9C1 police package with a 260-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8. It was heralded by the famous “Lord Vader, your car is ready” ad campaign and remained in production through the 1996 model year. The last year saw minor interior alterations, with the digital speedometer being replaced by an analog one, along with a tachometer. The shifter was moved from the column to the center console, and the engine was given an OBD-II computer control system (the camshaft was reground to adjust for the new computer).

This Impala SS has been been garaged as part of a small collection here in Texas for several years. We were fortunate to acquire this exceptional Chevy from the most recent owner as well as the original owners manuals, sales documents, service records, and window sticker.  The paint, interior and everything on this Impala SS are 100% original and this beauty has seen under 52k miles of asphalt in the last 28 years.
