1985 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler – Derived from the CJ-7, with a 10-inch longer wheelbase and extended rear overhang, the CJ-8 Scrambler was initially available as a pickup with a bulkhead behind the seats. Buyers could choose either a hard fiberglass pickup cab with steel doors or folding vinyl pickup top with vinyl doors. Its introduction in 1981 meant that it preceded all other domestic-made compact pickups by at least a year (the Chevrolet S-10 was introduced in 1982 and the Ford Ranger was a mid-year introduction for 1983). Later, a full-length hard fiberglass wagon roof was made available, but very few were fitted. By and large, the majority of Scramblers were hard cab pickups. The Scrambler never saw large sales (even for Jeep) and was dropped for 1986. In addition to low sales, it was also dropped because Jeep’s new Cherokee/Wrangler based pickup – the Comanche – had just been introduced.

At TX T&C we love Jeeps as much as we love trucks and a Scrambler is the perfect marriage of both! You can imagine how excited we are to have this CJ-8 in our showroom while it awaits a new garage to call home. While there are some obvious modifications, much of the Jeep still wears its original paint. The upgraded suspension, bumpers, lights, wheel and tires really give this Scrambler the right look. It is being sold with the half doors seen in the photos as well as a matching set of full hard doors. Features and options include; 4.2L Inline 6 Cyl, Auto, 4×4, Lift, Tach, Bikini Top, Pro-Comp Custom Bumpers, Center Console Storage, Cruise Control, Rugged Ridge Floormats, LED Aux Lights (4), Power Steering/Brakes, Rollbar, Rubicon Shocks, Tachometer, Tow Package, Smittybilt X2O 10k lb Winch, Spare Tire, 16″ Rugged Ridge Outlaws, and Thick Hercules Trail Digger M/T Tires!
