1978 GMC C2500 Sierra Grande – 350 V8, Auto, LWB, 2WD, A/C, Matching Camper Shell, New Tire, All Original, Under 40k Documented Miles!
1978 GMC C2500 Sierra Grande – Thoroughly redesigned from stem to stern, the all-new trucks for 1973 proved to be the longest lived series in GMC’s history and is the one to have for fans of three-box styling. Aside from wheels and hubcaps, there aren’t many curves in the design, unless you count the body sides that feature a sculpted character line with a central plateau body panel and the first use of curved side glass on a GM truck. This platform also featured GM’s first in-house built crew cab, along with the Suburban’s finally getting four doors like a normal station wagon. GMC also offered this cab with only a single front bench seat beginning in 1976 as the Bonus Cab, as something of a competitor to the Dodge Club Cab and Ford SuperCab. Trim lines ranged from the entry level Custom, Custom Super, Sierra, to top end Sierra Grande. Names were revised in 1975, with the hierarchy going from Sierra, Sierra Grande, High Sierra, to Sierra Classic. This remained in effect through 1982, when the High Sierra was dropped, with the others continuing though the end of series production. 1975 also saw a one-year only “Gentleman Jim” package.
This beautiful ’78 C2500 Sierra Grande was a recent find here in Texas where it has lived all of its life. The previous owner was an older couple who used this truck sparingly as their Sunday church and errands vehicle. The GMC has under 40k documented miles and the bed looks like it has barely ever been used. This 3/4 ton truck is an original Brown Metallic & Buckskin 2-tone truck and is a real head turner! As you can see it even features and matching camper shell and looks great going down the road. We have put apprx 100 test miles on her and she drives great. From our inspection we found that the only non-original paint are the lower dark brown sections below each side. A complete list of features and options includes; 350 V8, Auto, RWD, A/C, Two-Tone, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Chrome Mirrors, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Grille, Buckskin Vinyl Bench Seat, Stamped Rear Bumper, Owners Manual, Dealer Invoice, Window Sticker, Factory AM/FM Radio, Tire Tools, Tinted Windows, Tow Package, 16″ Factory Wheels, and Thick Cooper Discoverer Tires! The best buyer for this truck is someone looking for a truck they can drive daily and/or show on the weekends. Shipping and financing are available and your spouse already called us to say it was OK to buy it. So there are no more excuses for letting this collectible Sierra Classic slip away!
