1977 International Scout II Rallye – 348 V8, Auto, 4×4, Power Steering & Brakes, A/C, Original Interior, New Paint!
1977 International Scout II Rallye – After the original International Scout proved that four-wheel-drive vehicles are as fashionable on the boulevard as the barnyard, IH totally redesigned their little truck for 1971 to become bigger and potentially more powerful. Introduced early in the year, the Scout II shared design cues and some components with International’s line of pickup trucks. The larger Scout II was now more of a competitor to Jeep’s Wagoneer and Cherokee rather than the CJ-5. The Scout II’s entry level powertrain was the same as its predecessor—the 152-cid slant-four. With the model’s scaled-up size, however, there was now room for optional V-8s up to 345 cid. The Scout II also continued to offer two major types of roofs: a pickup top and a wagon-like TravelTop, which continued to be the preferred choice among buyers.
At Texas Trucks & Classics we specialize in classic trucks and SUVs. As the owner of the dealership, I get the pleasure of driving all of these vehicles. The downside is that sometimes I fall in love with a few of them …. a “no no” in the dealership business model. This 1977 International Scout II is one such vehicle that I fell in love with as soon as it arrived. We have therefore owned this classic SUV for about 4 years. Over that time we have performed a complete repaint, minor servicing, and added a new battery. It has been great to drive occasionally but the time has come to get back to work …. and sell classics! Of course this SUV has appreciated greatly since 2015 and will continue to climb in value with each passing day. The main reason for this climb is due to the high degree of originality, the highly desired factory options, and the excellent condition. If the new caretaker shows this Scout as much love as we have over the last few years they will always have both a fun and wise investment in their garage. The Rallye stripes were not installed after the repaint but will accompany this sale if the new owner would like to install them. The odometer shows just over 48k miles. The condition leads us to believe these miles are correct but we have no solid history/documentation to support it. A complete list of features includes; Rally Package, 345 V8, Auto, 4×4, Power Steering & Brakes, A/C, Cruise Control, Cloth Floormats, Tilt Steering, Tinted Glass, Owners Manuals, Luggage Rack, Spare Tire w/cover, Kenwood AM/FM/CD/USB/IPOD, Original Wedgewood Blue Interior, New Fire Orange Paint, 15″ Factory Wheels, and Thick 235/75/R15 Tires!
