Description

1967 Ford Mustang GTA – Ford redesigned the Mustang for 1967, making it longer and wider but with the same 108-inch wheel base. The basic shape was exaggerated to look more aggressive, and flat panels gave way to curves. The front suspension was revised for improved handling and a dual braking system was introduced. Optional disc brakes now had power assist and cruise control was offered, but only with V-8 engines and Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The grille was enlarged and the rear taillight panel was concave with larger lights. Simulated rear scoops were used on all three body styles and optional recessed panels on the hood featured rear-facing turn signal lights. The dashboard was redesigned and air conditioning was now integrated, instead of looking like an under-dash afterthought. A new package this year was the GTA (A for automatic), which included the GT equipment: power disc brakes, grille-mounted fog lights, dual exhausts, handling package, and rocker panel stripes. A total of 24,079 Mustangs were bought with the GT option.

While there are still some die-hard purists in the classic car arenas, the trends (and our huge “sold vehicle” file cabinet) have shown us that marrying iconic good looks with modern performance and technology is the new era. When the builder dove into this project he aimed to finish with a custom ride that met all of his needs. If the Synergy Green paint wasn’t a dead give away, a closer inspection reveals numerous upgrades that the Ford engineers didn’t envision in late 1966. This is a true GTA outfitted with a 390 (s-code) that has been bored to 408. The Mustang remains an automatic although a Quicksilver Shifter now passes you into gear. Additional features and upgrades include; Aluminum Radiator, Holley Ribbed Valve Covers, Chrome Air Cleaner, A/C, Car Cover, Center Console Storage (w/cup holders), Chrome Grille/Bumpers/Mirrors, Cloth Floormats, Digital Gauges, Fog Lights, Wilwood 4-wheel Disc Brakes, Cross-drilled & Slotted Rotors, Power Steering, Boss AM/FM Stereo, 17” Foose Chrome Wheels, and Thick Goodyear Eagle Sport ZR17 Tires! This Mustang has seen just under 2,200 miles since completion and the “shake down” is complete. If you are a lover of classic Mustangs but demand something unique, we think this ’67 GTA may be the perfect addition to your garage!
