1965 Ford Mustang Fastback – 289 V8, 5 Speed Manual, A/C, Custom Exhaust, 17″ Torque Thrusts Wheels, New Tires!
1965 Ford Mustang Fastback – After releasing the Hardtop and Convertible at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Ford later released the Fastback for the 1965 model year. It came with all the same options and features as the earlier models, but had a fastback design inspired by the cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO, Corvette Stingray and Jaguar E-Type. At the time of sale, the Mustang was sold alongside the Falcon, Fairlane and Thuderbird as a more compact option. To cut down on production costs and maintenance, the Mustang borrowed many common components from the other Ford products. The project was managed by Lee Iacocca who wanted a four-seater car, no longer than 180 inches that could sell for less than $2,500 USD and have multiple performance and luxury options.
At TX T&C we love it when an early Fastback makes it’s way into our inventory! The ’65 Fastback 2+2 is one of the iconic American muscle-cars that never last long in our showroom. We expect the same will happen with this beautiful example because it drives great and is priced below market. While some purist may not like that the original 6 cylinder is gone, we think the upgraded 289 V8 and 5 speed manual transmission is a fantastic upgrade. The 289 engine was built out with Cobra Script Valve Covers, Chrome Air Cleaner, Chrome Alternator, and Headers that tie into a custom dual exhaust. The light blue paint and gray stripes are a great color combo that go perfect with the sleek Fastback looks. Additional features and options include; Rally-Pac w/ Tach, A/C, Chrome Grille/Mirrors/Bumpers, Rubber Floormats, Fog Lights, Retro AM/FM/Cassette Stereo, Vent Windows, Car Cover, Tinted Glass, & Boyd Coddington Torque Thrusts, and Thick 245/45/ R17 Tires! You already know that a clean ’65 Fastback is a hard find and at this price, this one won’t be around long.
