1962 Chevy II Nova – 6-cyl. (194cid/120hp), Auto, Factory Radio, Lots of Spare Parts, Recent Tune-up, Highly Documented!
1962 Chevy II Nova – Alarmed by the runaway success of the Ford Falcon, GM launched a direct competitor in 1962 with its Chevy II line. A conventional four- and six-cylinder front engine, rear drive box on wheels the Chevy II contrasted with the funky rear-engine, air-cooled flat-six Corvair that had deeply divided the corporation. The Chevy II may not have been as radical as the Corvair, but it broke new ground for Chevrolet in that it was a unibody design with a separate front subframe, bolt-on fenders and sheet metal. Two engines were offered – a 90 bhp, 153 cid OHV four and a 120 bhp, 194 cid OHV six. Both were available with a 3-speed manual gearbox, or a 2-speed Powerglide automatic.
Aside from the great looks, this first year Nova is special because of it’s history. It wasn’t owned by a famous rock star or anything like that but it does come with all the documentation on the car from day one. All the original purchase documentation as well as all therestoration receipts and service records accompany this purchase. The Nova was restored approximately 15 years ago and tuned-up recently. It was not a frame-off restoration but, it still presents very well today and comes with a trunk full of spare parts. The Roman Red exterior paired with the red houndstooth interior is a real head turner! While it currently features it’s original 6 cylinder (which runs great), it would be easy to upgrade the drivetrain and dramatically increase it’s value. Features and options include; 6-cyl. (194cid/120hp), Auto, Factory Delco Radio, Chrome Grille/Mirror/Bumpers, 15″ Alloy Wheels, and Thick 190/50 R15 Tires! Whether you want to cruise her in her original configuration or take the horsepower to the next level, this solid Chevy II is a great addition to any garage.
