1955 Chevy Bel Air Sedan – 383 Stroker, 400 Turbo Auto Trans, Vintage Air, Custom Interior & Stereo, 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, CPP Steering, 9″ Rear End, Frame-Off Build!
1955 Chevy Bel Air Sedan – “New” simply wasn’t a big enough word for Chevrolet’s milestone 1955 model. An improved chassis topped by sensational styling would have been enough to make history, but Ed Cole’s engineers just had to stir things up further. They introduced one of the low-priced field’s first overhead-valve V-8s, the vaunted “small-block,” an engine still kicking up dust 55 years later, though basically in name alone. At 265 cubic inches, Chevy’s ground-breaking V-8 not only gave the passenger-car line new life, it also helped save the two-seat Corvette’s bacon.
The previous owner wanted a reliable classic that not only turned heads, but was enjoyable to drive. He poured well over the asking price into getting the Bel Air just right and much of the work was completed in the last 6-12 months. The motor has been outfitted with a Weind 7546 intake manifold, Holley 670 Avenger carb, MSD Ignition and distributor, “Fuelie” 2.02 ported heads, Milodon oil pan and pump, and long tube headers. He had the engine bay completed with custom powder coated and polished aluminum core support, radiator and AC condenser, and electric cooling fans (with additional on switch on AC panel). The Turbo 400 transmission was recently rebuilt and 4 wheel power disc brakes were added. This Chevy also features a 9” Ford narrowed rear end, Moser axles, and rear leaf springs relocated to inside of frame rails for wider tire clearance. A new power steering unit from Classic Performance Products was installed along with an Ididit tilt wheel steering column and Classic 55 retro smaller diameter steering wheel. In May of 2023 a Vintage Air Air system was installed that features a custom fabricated and powder coated AC vent and control panel at base of dash for a factory look. The body was taken off the frame and sealed. The interior floor pans, doors and rear interior quarters were paint sealed and heat/sound deadening panels were installed. A 1955-1956 Classic Chevy slidebar radio with Bluetooth, 300 Watts, USB & Aux inputs along with 4 Rockford Fosgate speakers offer a great cruising experience! Additional features and options include; 383 Stroker, Auto w/ Hurst Floor Shifter, MSD Ignition, Holley Carb, Aluminum Radiator, Ford 9” Rear End, Power Brakes, CPP Power Steering, Custom Tuxedo Interior, Vintage Air, Chrome Grille/Mirrors/Bumpers, Cloth Floormats, Digital Gauges, Retro AM/FM/Aux Stereo, Tilt Steering, Tinted Windows, 17” American Racing Torque Trusts, and Thick Toyo Proxes Sport A/S 235/50/R17 Tires! This BelAir is as clean on the underside as it is on the top! The black paint is laser straight and everything works like it should. With less than 300 miles since completion, this is your opportunity to drive an iconic American classic for far less than what was just spent to build it. This is an investment grade classic you don’t want to slip away!
