Description

1950 Dodge B-2 B – The B-series pickup trucks were sold from 1948 to 1953. They replaced the prewar Dodge truck and were replaced by the Dodge C series in 1954. The B-series trucks featured a high-visibility “pilot-house” cab with optional rear quarter windows. The engine was shifted forward and the front axle moved back on the frame for better weight distribution as well as a shorter wheelbase, moving from 116 in to 108 in on ½-ton models. The cargo bed sides were made higher to increase capacity by 40%. The redesigned cab could seat three people, with 2.5 in more height, 6 in more width and 3 in additional in length. The cab was mounted on rubber mounts for an improved ride. Another innovation for the time was the use of cross-steering arrangement, giving the trucks a 37° turning radius. The cargo box space was increased over previous models and overload springs made optional on all variants to increase hauling capacity. In 1950, more new features were added as the 3-speed manual shift lever was relocated to the steering column instead of on the floor.

We fell in love with this unique Dodge classic truck at first sight! The patina is perfect and something only mother nature could create over 75 years. The Joe Phillips shop truck theme is obviously a recent addition and a great tribute to the Burbank, CA dealership that originally sold the truck in 1950. Some work may be needed to make this truck a daily driver but for weekend cruises around town, this Dodge is ready to go. In preparation for resale we had the floormat replaced and the bench seat recovered in distressed Saddle vinyl. Features include; 218ci Inline 6 Cyl (95hp), 3-on-the-Tree, RWD, Chrome Grill, Chrome Mirrors, Power Steering, Spare Tire, Vent Windows, 15″ Steel Wheels, and Wide White Wall Tires! We see a fair number or Chevy and Ford trucks from this era but a Pilot-house Dodge is one we seldom see. If you’re in the market for a unique truck with perfect patina, this B-2 B is one you don’t want to let slip away!
